What is the Point of a Spritual Path?

The bottom line is that being happy is the greatest kind of thanks you can offer for the gift of life. Happiness is the reason we do most of what we do. But usually, it seems, happiness is supposed to be the by-product, not the goal. What if happiness was the conscious goal, not the job, the new car, the right man? When we wait for happiness to arrive because of some other event, we stay disconnected from our spiritual selves. Then we wonder why our lives aren’t working quite right.
Once you get in the habit of being happy, just because it gives you such lovely pleasure, you’ll be surprised how many of those things you wanted start falling into your lap. My life has quit being a struggle and seems to be blessed with magical “luck” since I finally became the naturally happy person I am today.
My hope for you is that you make happiness your goal so you can stay connected to your true self, to your spiritual self, which connects you to God. Then, from that place of deep and abiding joy, you can set about making all your dreams come true. previous
