Your Poems of Love

I Went Out At Dawn
I went out at Dawn.
Light met me and said: "Walk with me.
See through my eyes how love
makes all things holy."
I saw, and my heart was filled with
a trembling joy.
I crossed a meadow and the wind
caught my hand and playfully
tugged my hair, saying:
"Come dance with me, for life is a celebration.
Dance! Come, dance!"
And we danced with the leaves and
the flowers.
I came to a quiet wood by a gentle
stream, out of breath from the
dance, and thought:
"I forgot to pray. I must make my prayer."
There was laughter in the foliage
all around, a chuckle from the stream,
and from some bird unseen, but near,
a reassuring trill--
"To walk with light, to dance for joy,
to love--oh, most of all to love!
---is the heart of prayer.
