1) Little Hearts, Big Return
On Friday and Saturday morning I got up at 6:30 to get to a weekend workshop by 8:00. Each morning I left Chris sleeping. Yesterday I decided to follow my own advice from Marriage Made Easy. I got out some hot pink, heart shaped Post-Its and put I Love You notes everywhere I knew he would go throughout the house: On the inside of the lid to the washer, in his cereal bowl, on his keyboard, on the pull to the Softlight shades in the den, on his steering wheel and even inside his wallet. Throughout the day I smiled to myself as I thought about him finding the different notes. I knew he'd like it but when I got home, I was greeted by a huge bouquet of flowers and a wonderful card. I was completely surprised and he was excited to see me smiling so big. Why not try this idea with your guy?

2) A Valentine's Gift of Romance
Before I met my boyfriend, Chris, he'd purchased a half dozen copies of "The New Intimacy, Discovering the Magic at the Heart of Your Differences". He'd made it a habit to give a potential girlfriend a copy to read. He gave me a copy and it turned out that I was the only woman who not only read it, but actually liked it. I didn't know it at the time but that won me big points. Now, two years later, I'm taking a teleseminar course from those same authors, Jim Sniechowski and Judith Sherven. They mentioned that they had done a nationwide survey of over 6000 men and woman. They asked the question, "What do you most want to know about relationships?" There were a lot of different answers but the overwhelming majority, 83%, said: How do you keep romance alive?

In response to this need they developed a program that teaches couples how to keep romance alive. I love their books so I'm sure this will be of high quality and very useful. 3) I was reading the Wall Street Journal today and there was a fun article on buying Valentine's Day gifts for each other. This particular article focused on purchasing experiences. You know, spa days, race car driving, hang gliding. If you think you might want to give a gift like this here are a few web sites that the article mentiioned: http://www.Cloud9Living.com; http://www.Excitations,com and SignatureDays.com . They're pricey so be prepared.

4) A Valentine Gift From Your Heart
Something that Chris kept saying, a lot, when we were first getting to know each other, and still once in a while, is, "I can't believe you don't ever beat me up." It seems that all the other women he was involved with (his wife, two fiances, and a few girlfriends in-between) were always on his case about something. He learned to be always on guard. That can be pretty stressful so he's really aware of how relaxed he's able to be around me. I think it's one of the things he most values in me.

Do you find yourself complaining to your husband or boyfriend? Pointing out bad behavior, irritating habits, etc. This comes back to that Feminine Grace thing I'm always harping on. You can communicate with a man by being ugly, or your can communicate with him by being beautiful. Guess which one he's most likely to listen to? Guess which one will cause him to be so happy with you that he'll go out and buy you flowers for no reason? I suggest that, if you are occasionally "ugly" to him, you might give him the gift of your beauty and treat him in ways that will cause him to start responding to you with appreciation and gratitude. Start now and on Valentine's Day tell him that your kinder, more loving behavior has been his Valentine's Day gift from you. I think he'll be very pleased and you should be feeling much better toward him and about yourself. It's quite magical how well it works.

With much love,
Kara
