In Spanish they have several ways to use the word love. We say we love chocolate, our new shoes, our dog, our kids, our lover. Seems pretty crazy.

Hi
I agree too. I'm norwegian and we actually do have different words. What I tell my students of norwegian as a second language is that" You do only say "jeg elsker deg" to God and your special someone, and maybe your kids.
To all aothers we say " eg e glad i deg" But even that is too intimate to say to just anybody. You don't say it to somebody you don't know. Unfortunately it seems to change in the language, but as an stubborn librarian / teacher who is kind of puristic about language I'll keep fighting.

I find all these postings and web tv and everything very interessting and useful too. And I keep reading new entries. Keep up the good work

Greetings,
