The Email Fiasco: What I Learned
Page 2
Those angry emails were what Deidre, the wise woman in my book, calls "ugly." They were in big bold letters, lots of swear marks, some with the real swear words, and if there was sound, our ear drums would have been broken. It was a mess. I began to get masses of emails demanding (some requesting kindly) to be removed from my mailing list. I work so hard to offer valuable content, to respect my visitors, and especially their privacy. I would never send out unsolicited email, at least not on purpose. So I found myself crying each time I checked my mail. I was sobbing like I hadn't in years. It was torture and there was nothing I could do about it. I tried contacting the mailing service but they took three days to get back to me. I tried phoning them but all I got was a recording to leave a message and they'd get "right" back to me.
I sent an email explaining what I thought was happening and begged everyone to stop sending any kind of email so the avalanche would stop. But the angry ones kept sending out their venom to the entire list. What was actually kind of funny was one woman who complained that she didn't want everyone to know her email address. But she was the one who kept sending out angrier and angrier emails...with her email blasted out to everyone on the list. continued previous
