How I Met Chris
The Love of My Life
I've lived alone for a couple of years and was settling in to the idea that I would be alone for the rest of my life. I was hoping to find a boyfriend who I could enjoy but didn't want to get married ever again. Maybe being married to a pathological liar who screwed me out of $50,000 caused me to be just a tad guarded.
Then my girlfriend went on Match.com and met a really lovely man. They were having such a good time I decided I really did want a man in my life. I had met that bad man on MatchMaker.com so I wasn't going to go that route, even though I know many who have had great success. That's when I heard an ad on the radio for the Debra Winkler Personal Search. I phoned them and felt good about them right away. They intearviewed me and within three weeks introduced me to a terrific man. But I knew he wasn't what I was looking for. We dated a few times, enjoying each other's company, knowing that we were still being matched with others. The next man was nice enough but neither of us was interested.
When my Matchmaker, Annie, called me about the first two, she said, "I've got a nice man for you," then proceeded to tell me about them. We'd gotten better acquainted by then, over a few nice phone calls. This time, when she called, she said, "Kara, I think I found your match." I wrote down the description: "His name is Chris, he's 59, gorgeous, salt and pepper hair, successful, 6'2" tall, a professor of finance, high income, plays the piano, owns a horse, two yellow labs, into self-improvement, married 17 years, had been engaged." Well, as you can imagaine, I was very intrigued. continued
